Shot Notes

I don’t usually repost photos, but I felt I had to in this case because this shot’s much better than the previous one. Nice and sharp around the eyes, but I think the DOF could be better. Background’s not great either, but I do like the robin this time around.

You do have something for birds looking off to their left, don’t you?

    First a duck, now a robin. What’s next - a penguin?

It’s true, I automatically discard any photo with ducks looking any other way than left ;) I don’t think I prefer it when birds/ducks/animals/whatever aren’t completely head-on with the camera, as it adds a little more interest to the shot. I do have a couple like that, and they didn’t really seem to work. I’d quite like to photograph some penguins though!

The robin was actually quite friendly, willing to come within a decent distance of me - probably within about 15 feet, quite amazingly. Didn’t really even seem to mind I was snapping away like a madman.

It’s pretty much straight off of the camera - no cropping, but I tweaked colour balance and added a light vignette.

I like the DOF. It makes the robin look like a gargantuan mutant striding across a wasteland.

    RaaaaaRRRR!!!

Rofl, that’s great! I should have photoshopped in some blown up remnants of buildings and the robin crushing some bloke under his foot. Ace.
