As you might be able tell, I’m an avid photographer and this site is intended to be a simplistic place to put the best selection of my photos. Although I already have a blog, I wanted the emphasis on this site to be about the photos and not have a load of garbage (my usual topic of choice) in between them.

Navigating the Site
Just in case you’re a bit confused as to what everything does, here’s a little site map.

Everything on the index page is done through some pretty AJAX. Pretty much everything is clickable, or you can use the keyboard:- P: move backwards
- N: move forwards
- I: shot information
- E: EXIF notes
- Mosaic
Every photo ever posted is displayed here, in square-format. - Random

Design
Whilst I don’t want to be pretentious and arty, the inspiration for the design here is just to keep it simple. I decided early on that any text should be as minimally intrusive as possible, and the photo should definitely take the emphasis. Hopefully that’s rubbed off on the final design!
All of the AJAX and visual effects (including the reflection) are done using the Mootools library, which is possibly the best third-party JavaScript library I’ve ever used. The reflection code was adapted from Christophe Beyls’ reflection for Mootools script.
And of course, my thanks go to Johannes for his excellent YAPB plugin, which powers all of the thumbnails and image uploading. It’s by far the most feature-complete and adaptable photoblog plugin out there today.
